Consulting and Matsen Enterprises completed their five part series
of Futures and Options workshops for cotton producers that have been
held across the cotton belt this season. The workshops are sponsored
by the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) and Cotton Incorporated. A similar
event for textile mills was slated for October 2005 in New York. This
season's prior workshops were held in Lubbock Texas, Tifton Georgia,
Raleigh North Carolina, and Tunica Mississippi. This is the second season
that this educational program has been offered.

Seattle Washington—Judith Ganes-Chase presented her views on
the Outlook for Washed and Semi-Washed Arabica Coffee in a packed room
at the annual SCAA conference as part of this years International Relations
Track at the SCAA annual conference. Copies of the presentation are

Judith will continue her work with the IRC in the coming year to provide
statistical analysis on specialty coffee. Next year's annual SCAA meeting
will be in Charlotte, NC.

Conference held at Victoria Falls in Livingstone, Zambia

Ganes-Chase shared the podium with the New York Board of Trade and the
World Bank presenting a session on the use of futures and options for
hedging at the East African Coffee Association Conference held at Victoria
Falls in Livingstone Zambia in early March. The Eastern African Fine
Coffees Association is a member-driven association of specialty coffee
producers, processors and marketers from ten chapters in the Eastern
African Region: Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania,
Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. She has been asked to present again at
next year's conference February 16-18, 2006 in Tanzania
